Day. 1. Labuan Bajo – Dintor – Wae Rebo
Pick up hotel/airport driver to dintor to start trek up to village
Wae Rebo village above the clouds” and is one of the most magical destinations in Flores. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters above sea level, Wae Rebo is an isolated traditional village surrounded by lush mountains and dense forests. It is famous for its unique architecture and preserved ancestral way of life.
- Mbaru Niang Houses: The village is iconic for its seven tall, cone-shaped traditional houses. These structures have five levels, each serving a specific purpose—from living quarters to storing food and seeds.
- A UNESCO Heritage Site: In 2012, Wae Rebo received the UNESCO Award of Excellence for its commitment to preserving traditional architecture and culture.
- The Journey: To reach the village, visitors must embark on a 2 to 3-hour trek through the jungle from the village of Denge. It is a rewarding hike with breathtaking tropical scenery.
- Hospitality: Visitors are traditionally welcomed with a Waelu ceremony, a brief ritual by the village chief to ask for protection and welcome guests into their community.
Traveler’s Note:
- Stay Overnight: Most tours include an overnight stay inside a Mbaru Niang, allowing you to experience local life and see the stunning starlit sky.
- No Signal: There is no cellular reception or Wi-Fi, making it the perfect place for a “digital detox.”
- Preparation: Bring a jacket! Because of the elevation, it gets quite chilly at night and in the early morning.

After breakfast walk down to dintor to meet driver then drive continue to Labuan bajo for drop off hotel/airport
